A Play is Cast!

We held auditions for ‘Absurd Person Singular’ on Sunday, and what a terrific turnout there was – many thanks to all those who came along. There’s always a real buzz in the air on any audition day, and this one was no exception with fourteen auditionees turning up for the six roles on offer – so we were really spoilt for choice! The great thing about auditioning at Repertory is that even if you’re unsuccessful, we’ll always keep your details on file and bear you in mind when we’re casting the next production. Many of the unsuccessful applicants this time round were absolutely terrific, but just not quite right for the parts on offer. However, we are thrilled to announce that the cast is as follows:

The role of Sidney will be played by Patrick O’Connor, whose most recent performance at Repertory was that of Arthur Wicksteed in last year’s production of Habeas Corpus and his wife, Jane, will be played by long time Repertory favourite Linda Kerfoot – most recently seen as the long-suffering Sue in Abigail’s Party and Mrs Swabb in Habeas Corpus.

Mike Pyefinch will be welcomed back to the Repertory stage, this time playing the bullying architect Geoffrey – Mike was last seen in Rep’s production of ‘Once on Chunuk Bair’ – and his desperate wife Eva will be played by Karen Ellett, who struck comic gold as ‘Conchita’ in our most recent production of ‘Are You Being Served?’

Experienced actor Stuart Perry makes his debut at Rep playing aging banker Donald, and his delightfully funny (but ultimately tragic), gin-soaked wife will be played by veteran actress Kerry O’Sullivan. Kerry was last seen at Repertory playing a wonderfully wanton Muriel Wicksteed in Habeas Corpus.

We have our first read-through on Tuesday (more about that next week) with rehearsals commencing on June 17th and opening night on August 17th. With such an experienced and strong cast and production team, this promises to be another great night’s entertainment at Rep! Watch this space…
