Hillbillies Going with a Swing!

It’s all go down at Repertory at the moment with rehearsals for our upcoming production of “The Beverly Hillbillies” in full swing. The cast are really enjoying rehearsals, especially the dynamic directorial style of Glenn Cameron and already the play is shaping up very nicely indeed, with Act One fully blocked already.

The set is coming along well, with most of the major construction in hand. There’s still a way to go yet, but at least everything’s on track. A big thanks to those who came down to the theatre on Sunday to give a hand clearing up backstage, especially Max Restieaux, Jill Johnston, and Martin and Frances Brown.

Additional thanks must also go to Repertory’s new official photographer Frank Gibson, who has come on board to chronicle this latest production with his trusty camera. Frank very kindly attended a recent rehearsal and took a number of brilliant shots of the ‘work in progress’ – this week’s Midweek picture is courtesy of Frank. To see further images of “The Beverly Hillbillies” rehearsals or to check out Frank’s other work visit his website http://frankgibsonpictures.foliopic.com/

We have a general appeal from Kerry Mountstephen who is costuming this production. Many thanks for the kind donations so far of assorted denim items, checked shirts and ‘Hillbilly’ footwear to costume the many actors in the production, but Kerry is still in need of certain wardrobe items, namely larger men’s ankle boots (sizes 12 to 14) and XL men’s jeans. Also, she is on the lookout for a square crochet rug/blanket, a knitted cape and lyle stockings. If any kind Midweek readers are able to help with any of these items, please drop them off to Kerry at MUSE, 15 Maria Place.

2013 promise to be a bumper year for Repertory with four full productions taking place, of which “The Beverley Hillbillies” is the first, playing from March 1st to March 9th. Our second production of the year will take place from April 26th to May 4th – more about this next week.
