RepTalk – May 20th

RepTalk, May 20th Midweek Newspaper.

We are on our way with the two One Act Plays, Last Repects directed by Frances Brown and That Scottish Play directed by Phil Hudson. We had good attendance at auditions where all roles were well cast and we all had a few chuckles. Rehearsals started on Tuesday, and its great to fire the theatre up again with something different, and the directors are working well with their casts.

Both of these plays are very funny, Last Respects is a short comedy, Mr Throgmorton had a massive heart attack and died in the office of his friend Dr Tom. His body was shipped straight to his friend Mr. Deadlock’s funeral home. His last request was for his office staff and lovers, and his wife come have a drink and pay their “Last Respects” together. Meanwhile all the money from Mr Throgmorton’s business has disappeared. That Scottish Play is longer, Take a fresh faced director straight out of university, introduce him to a regional“Little Theatre” group via a Regional Developement Grant. So far, so good! Add a leading diva with a speech impediment,
a cab-sav soaked old hack, a trio of hippy feminists. A man who can act but hasTourettes Syndrome and another man who can’t act but owns a costume hire business. Mix these with the diva’s burning desire to perform “That Scottish Play”, bear in mind that the Regional Drama Awards are only three weeks away and there can only be one result – a riot!
Rep has a busy second half of the year, with the WW1 Plays competition finishing with a certificate giving supper and a scripted performance in September during the Literary Festival, monthly Imrov Nights with workshops starting shortly, and one more full production to end the year.
